Meet Dana...she has lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast all of her life. Growing up in Long Beach, Mississippi, Dana’s mom, Helen, taught her how to express her creativity and have fun in all types of art. Dana is a mom of two beautiful girls and has been married to her husband and best friend for 30 years. She is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. In August 2005, after Hurricane Katrina hit the coast, Dana decided to slow down and enjoy life a little more by painting playful, coastal sea life inspired by the lines of the Gulf Coast. A friend talked her into putting her art in a large show and people loved it. Dana got to a point that she could not keep up with the demand...so she team with Caffco and decided to start Dana Wittmann Designs. Her work is also sold in art shows on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. She's now in over 475 stores in the United States including the Virgin Islands. Dana’s whimsical art reflects the culture of the South, including shrimp, crab, gators, sea shells, different varieties of colorful fish. Plus she mixes in a little of New Orleans with her pepper designs, gumbo mixes, dragon flies and more. “I am a coast girl, as a little girl I grew up on the water. I love beaches and the bayou’s. They are God’s expression of beauty. I love fun art, things that bring joy and color into people’s homes.” Each piece is very colorful, fun and marked by a cross, Dana’s symbol for thanks to God for the talent He has given her. Along with a team of others, Dana runs a non-profit ministry. “We all work together to help those that are hurting, it is what we are meant to do, share God’s love.” “My hope is that these pieces will bless people’s homes like they have mine and my family and friends. Home is where the heart is."
